Alexis Mowrey, t-LMHC
Therapist

Alexis (she/her) is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor . She earned her undergraduate degree in Psychology from Iowa State University and her Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Drake University.

Alexis has experience working with adolescents and adults navigating trauma, domestic violence, sex trafficking, anxiety, depression, PTSD, and other complex life experiences. Alexis also has a particular interest in working with individuals experiencing eating disorders, disordered eating, body image concerns, and self-esteem struggles. Her clinical experience providing therapy to survivors of domestic violence and complex trauma has shaped her passion for helping clients understand the connections between their experiences, emotions, and relationship with themselves and their bodies.

Alexis uses a compassionate, collaborative, and trauma-informed approach, drawing from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), person-centered, and strengths-based approaches. She believes clients are the expert in their own experience and utilizes therapy as a space to uncover and build upon the resilience that is already inherently present in every person. Alexis strives to create a warm and nonjudgmental space where clients can feel understood, build self-awareness and self-worth, and work toward meaningful change.

Alexis sees clients ages 13 and older. She accepts Wellmark BCBS insurance plans. Alexis’ self-pay rate is $185 for an intake session and $165 for subsequent sessions, with limited sliding scale availability.
